Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of an honour’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or English
Experience: Candidates should have five years of related work experience in communications and web content and e-communication experience, preferably in an academic setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completed an honour’s university degree, and additional training in the field of public relations, marketing, or communications would be acceptable
  • The candidates should possess advanced communications skills and should demonstrate exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • The candidates should have experience in social media and should possess web content experience
  • The candidates should exhibit superior interpersonal skills and should have a proven ability to develop, implement, and measure innovative communications and marketing plans
  • The candidates should possess a solid understanding of the university environment and should be able to interact successfully with a range of stakeholders
  • The candidates should have the ability to work with minimal supervision and should show an exceptional level of initiative and reliability
  • The candidates should have proficiency in working with PowerPoint and Word (Microsoft Office products) and experience in web writing and design (WordPress)
  • The candidates should have excellent knowledge and expertise with Adobe Creative Suite

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop, implement, and evaluate internal and external communications strategies for all units under Housing and Residence Life Services
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with management and key personnel to develop an annual communications plan aligned with Carleton University guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate communications efforts to ensure consistent content, design, quality, and messaging across all channels, including print and online platforms
  • The candidates should be able to focus on creating comprehensive, user-friendly, and up-to-date online information to effectively reach current and future residents, parents, off-campus partners, and other stakeholders
  • The candidates should be able to utilize various communication tools and techniques to effectively convey information and engage with target audiences
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and analyze communication efforts to assess effectiveness and make adjustments as necessary to achieve departmental goals and objectives
  • The candidates should be able to stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in communications and incorporate them into departmental strategies and initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging and branding efforts
