Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed Food Handlers Certificate or be willing to obtain one
Experience: Candidates should have experience in institutional cooking methods and procedures, particularly in large-volume cooking
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have excellent communication skills, including the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- The candidates should have the ability to work independently and as a team member and the ability to work shifts and perform physical work
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have thorough knowledge of food preparation, storage techniques/procedures, and proper kitchen equipment operations, acquired through post-secondary education in a chef/cook training course or related work experience
- The candidates should have experience operating commercial/institutional food preparation equipment
- The candidates should have knowledge of nutritional principles to assist in planning menus
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to prepare a wide variety of foods using standard volume cooking methods while adhering to prescribed menus, work schedules, and dietary charts
- The candidates should be able to maintain cleanliness in the food services area, including equipment and utensils
- The candidates should be able to assist in receiving and stocking food items, assist with inventory management of supplies
- The candidates should be able to perform other duties related to the operation of a large school cafeteria work on-call hours
