Work setting: Rural area and staff accommodation provided
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Area of specialization: Dairy cattle
Equipment and machinery experience: Automated manure handling or storage system, feeding and watering system, milking system (automated), tractor, loader, skidsteer, and hand tools
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions
- The candidates should have experience with dairy operations and livestock management
- The candidates should have the ability to work independently, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and handle physically demanding tasks
- The candidates should be able to perform repetitive tasks, have attention to detail, and perform a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
- The candidates should have good hand-eye coordination and be able to walk for extended periods
- The candidates should be able to perform bending, crouching, and kneeling
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have excellent oral communication skills, be organized, and be team players
- The candidates should have efficient interpersonal skills, possess good judgment, and be reliable
- The candidates should be quick learners
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to clear fields of wood and stones, disinfect pens, barns, or poultry houses, and handle animals
- The candidates should be able to monitor the calving process, animal health, and perform livestock feeding
- The candidates should be able to prepare a clean, dry area for cows that are calving, and supervise milking operations to ensure work is done correctly
- The candidates should be able to track and report on current feed inventory, treat livestock health issues, and feed and tend animals
- The candidates should be able to assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures, operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, and carry out a pasture or pen breeding program
- The candidates should be able to maintain livestock performance records, quality control and production records, and milk cows
- The candidates should be able to clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens, maintain work records and logs, and perform general farm duties
- The candidates should be able to develop and guide the behavior of farm animals, organize tasks to accomplish the work, and maintain quality control and production records
