Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Credentials: Child development supervisor (ECE level 3), Child development worker (ECE level 2), Emergency child care first aid and CPR, and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child welfare check, and Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in their work, and be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking as part of their work routine
  • The candidates should be capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling as necessary to perform job duties effectively

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should prioritize punctuality, consistently arriving on time for assigned tasks and appointments, and demonstrate dependability, reliably fulfilling their responsibilities and commitments
  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships and effective communication with colleagues and clients, and exhibit excellent oral communication skills, articulating ideas clearly and persuasively
  • The candidates should demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing circumstances and requirements, show interpersonal awareness, understanding and responding appropriately to the needs and feelings of others, and exercise good judgment in decision-making and problem-solving
  • The candidates should be reliable, consistently delivering results and meeting expectations, be team players, collaborating effectively with colleagues to achieve shared goals, and uphold values and ethics consistent with the organization’s standards and principles

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, engage in storytelling activities, and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, assist in keeping records, and provide opportunities for children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, maintain daycare equipment, and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, and be knowledgeable about licensing regulations
  • The candidates should be able to establish guidelines for behavior, assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children, and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • The candidates should attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, and plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
