Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Holds a Dental Therapist Certificate issued by a regulatory authority in Yukon, or another Canadian jurisdiction
Experience: Candidates should have experience providing and delivering comprehensive dental treatment and preventative services to school aged children

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a strong ability and confidence to work autonomously and effectively plan and manage a large, diverse workload
  • The candidates should obtain within 6 months a Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate and WHMIS 2015 training should be obtained within 1 month of hire
  • The candidates should be able to utilize a personal vehicle within Whitehorse city limits
  • The candidates should be prepared for extensive travel, up to 50% of the time, throughout the rest of the Yukon, which will be required (up to 1-3 weeks per trip), but using a government-issued fleet vehicle
  • The candidates should have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • The candidates must be comfortable working with young children (preschool and school-age) and must be comfortable working alone

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be in good standing with the regulatory authority that issued the certificate and should have experience working to the full scope of a Dental Therapist’s practice, including extractions, pulpotomies, and crown placement
  • The candidates should have experience working in public health and/or with First Nation’s communities and who are currently students in a BSC (Dental Therapy) Program, who can demonstrate the essential qualifications through internships, practicums, cooperative and voluntary placements, and that have verification of graduation in 2024
  • The candidates should have an understanding of and adhere to the Dental Therapists’ Code of Ethics & Code of Conduct and demonstrate high standards and adherence to infection prevention and control protocols
  • The candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrate strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships through collaboration with colleagues and clients
  • The candidates should excel in working with children and families and Leadership skills that demonstrate aptitude in public health and program/service delivery
  • The candidates should possess a valid class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent and Security clearance with vulnerable sectors is required and should be obtained
  • The candidates should possess registration with Yukon’s Professional Licensing and Regulatory Affairs for dental therapist license and a CPR certificate should be obtained within 6 months of hire

  • The candidates should be able to provide comprehensive oral health care services and education to diverse communities
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with other dental and healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic patient care
  • The candidates should be able to conduct thorough dental assessments and maintain accurate patient records while maintaining confidentiality
