Salary: $18.06 to $35.09 hourly (To be negotiated) for 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: 31 Doyle’s Rd, Goulds, NL A1S 1A2, Canada
Shifts: Day, 08:00 to 16:30
Transportation information: Own transportation, and public transportation is available
Work setting: Child care centre, urban area
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Child development worker (ECE level 2) and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be comfortable working in an air-conditioned environment and demonstrate attention to detail in their work
- The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking duties
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be punctual, dependable, and reliable in meeting deadlines and commitments, possess efficient interpersonal skills, and demonstrate interpersonal awareness
- The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication abilities, exhibit flexibility in their approach to tasks, and uphold values and ethics in their work
- The candidates should demonstrate good judgment in decision-making, be effective team players, and demonstrate creativity in problem-solving and task completion
- The candidates should be honest, trustworthy, and have the ability to multitask
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to assess the children’s development, develop and implement child-care programs, and engage in storytelling to promote their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development
- The candidates should be able to assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties, maintain daycare equipment, and order supplies and equipment
- The candidates should be able to supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, synthesize the overall situation of the children, and communicate information to parents
- The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs, lead activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, and encourage children to express creativity through art, play, music, and physical activity
- The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, prepare snacks, and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential problems, submit written observations to educators or supervisors, and discuss progress and problems at staff meetings
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge of licensing regulations, establish guidelines for behavior, and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers
- The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, plan and organize activities for school-age children, and supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants
