Work setting: Child care centre, Nursery school, and Day care centre or nursery school

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Credentials: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Basic security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be capable of handling repetitive tasks and demonstrate attention to detail, as well as being comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, and able to perform activities such as bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • The candidates should be non-smoking

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be punctual and demonstrate dependability.
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication skills and exhibit reliability

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers with care and attention to their individual needs, and develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children effectively
  • The candidates should be able to engage children in activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts to stimulate their creativity and imagination, and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest to enrich their learning experiences
  • The candidates should be able to provide opportunities for children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity, fostering their development, and guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, promoting independence and self-care skills
  • The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods to ensure children’s comfort and well-being, and submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors to track their progress and development
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act to ensure compliance with regulations and standards, and be able to establish guidelines for behavior to create a safe and positive learning environment for children
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members to collaborate on supporting children’s development, and attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and challenges of children and contribute to collaborative problem-solving and planning efforts
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, prioritizing their safety and comfort, and supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants to ensure effective teamwork and smooth operation of the childcare facility
