Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset 
Credentials: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral communication skills and exhibit excellent written communication skills effectively

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, ensuring their comfort and well-being, and develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to engage children in storytelling activities to stimulate their imagination and language development, supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of childcare programs, and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, fostering their curiosity and learning
  • The candidates should be able to order supplies and equipment necessary for the childcare facility, ensuring adequate resources are available, support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote children’s development in various areas, and assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping accurate records of children’s progress and activities
  • The candidates should be able to engage children in creative activities such as storytelling, song teaching, and crafts to foster their artistic expression, guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, promoting independence and self-care skills, and maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties to ensure a safe and hygienic environment
  • The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, considering children’s dietary needs and comfort, observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, and submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors for documentation and planning purposes
  • The candidates should be able to discuss the progress and problems of children at staff meetings, collaborating with colleagues to address individual needs effectively, be familiar with the Day Nurseries Act and licensing regulations to ensure compliance with legal requirements, and establish guidelines for behavior and ensure a positive and respectful atmosphere in the childcare setting
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss their progress or problems with parents and other staff members, attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and problems of children, contributing to collaborative decision-making and planning, and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, facilitating holistic support
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, ensuring their safety at all times, and supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants, ensuring efficient and effective childcare delivery effectively
