Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should adhere to safe work practices consistently and meet the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 70 lbs, reaching, squatting, bending, climbing step ladders, and prolonged sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be reliable self-starters with the ability to prioritize tasks in response to changing demands and work independently or with supervision

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid Truck & Coach Technician License (310T), with an Automotive Service Technician License (310S)
  • The candidates should demonstrate computer literacy and familiarity with electronic diagnostic equipment
  • The candidates should have experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems
  • The candidates should hold a valid class G Ontario driver’s license in good standing and provide and maintain all necessary mechanic hand tools

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform routine preventative maintenance inspections and mandatory government safety inspections on a variety of vehicles serviced at the Transit Service Centre
  • The candidates should be able to inspect, maintain, and repair all systems on light and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including hydraulics, electrical, air conditioning, and air control systems
  • The candidates should be able to utilize computer and electronic diagnostic equipment effectively, demonstrating proficiency with keyboarding skills
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • The candidates should be able to assist in diagnosing mechanical or structural issues and carry out necessary repairs
  • The candidates should be able to perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting, standing, climbing, sitting, twisting, crouching, and kneeling
