Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have current Standard First Aid/CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
Experience: Candidates should have 1 year experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a minimum of 15 years of age
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work in varying and extreme weather conditions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.), including CSA Grade Steel Toe Boots at all times, and a CSA grade hockey helmet when working on an ice surface
  • The candidates should have exceptional customer service and communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist with the maintenance of all amenities (outdoor and indoor) of the assigned facility to ensure cleanliness and safe operation at all times, under the direction of the Operations Coordinator/Manager on Duty, Facility General Operators, Facility Operations Attendant II and III
  • The candidates should be able to provide exceptional customer service and communication skills and able to maintain safe and tidy spaces, ensuring equipment is set up and stored appropriately
  • The candidates should be able to maintain the facility, including but not limited to the arena/ice, pool, fitness area, and all outdoor amenities, using equipment such as walk-behind floor scrubbers and vacuums and able to operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently
  • The candidates should be able to sweep and wash all types of floors, clean windows/mirrors and doors, walls, showers, washrooms, change rooms, empty garbage, and restock supplies and able to assist with artificial turf and dome maintenance, including moving sports equipment and cleaning rubber tracks and tennis courts
  • The candidates should be able to assist with arena flooding procedures, including swinging hockey nets, shoveling snow, closing gates, checking ice for debris, and sweeping player benches, penalty boxes, and bleachers
  • The candidates should be able to communicate with the public in a positive customer service approach to provide information regarding the facility and arrange room rentals and able to monitor user functions to ensure building security is maintained and rental contracts are adhered to
  • The candidates should be able to assist with setting up and taking down event spaces for functions, such as social events, trainings, and meetings and able to maintain building grounds, including litter picking, shoveling snow, and clearing ice in winter
  • The candidates should be able to complete administrative duties in a timely manner, such as incident/accident reports, logbooks, and checklists, including shift duties
  • The candidates should be able to report all concerns, accidents, and incidents to the immediate supervisor/Manager on Duty and take appropriate action
  • The candidates should be able to maintain an understanding of department programs and services and able to understand, adhere to, and enforce corporate policies and procedures, confidentiality guidelines, emergency procedures, and health and safety standards for all participants and staff
  • The candidates should be able to attend team meetings and training and able to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should be able to perform other duties as assigned
