Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should possess 3-year diploma/degree in Game Development, Animation, Visual Effects (VFX), Computer Science or a related field of study
Experience: Candidates should have 5 years of experience working in the video game industry, with production credits on one or more shipped titles

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to work with an increasingly diverse student and staff population, demonstrating a proven commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and inclusion
  • The candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to present to diverse audiences and communities

  • The candidates should exhibit excellent problem-solving skills, enabling them to effectively resolve unexpected challenges and propose improvements to existing processes

  • The candidates should have experience as a Program Support Technologist for a Game Development program in a college or university setting, or relevant experience in a Technical Support role, such as a Technical Director or Technical Artist in a VFX, Animation, or Video Game studio (Equivalency will be considered)
  • The candidates should possess competent knowledge of C# and/or other programming languages to support students in the production of game projects
  • The candidates should have competent knowledge of Python, Perl, and/or shell scripting languages to manage student accounts, server maintenance, login scripts, software licenses, and server share permissions

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to oversee the digital technologies of the Bachelor of Game Design program as a Game Design Technologist
  • The candidates should be able to possess a deep understanding of the technical pipeline, best practices, and all the processes needed to develop video games
  • The candidates should be able to act as a technical consultant to students, faculty, and administrators regarding software, assignments, servers, laptops, and networked computers
  • The candidates should be able to utilize their knowledge of specialized hardware and software used in game development and research new software programs and digital hardware to determine the implementation of new technology as it relates to the curriculum
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that there are no software conflicts on workstations, deal with Windows registry issues, and handle other workflow processes to support curriculum and student needs
  • The candidates should be able to support classroom management software and deal with version control tools
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that the equipment is in working order in the labs and studios
  • The candidates should be able to meet with co-workers and Ontario Work Study Plan (OWSP) students to determine daily work priorities and guide and advise them to ensure that service in all areas of the program is carried out efficiently and comprehensively
  • The candidates should be able to respond to requests from faculty or students to demonstrate equipment or software, troubleshoot, and answer questions related to technology and/or workflow
  • The candidates should be able to perform daily maintenance to ensure that the services are updated and functioning efficiently
  • The candidates should be able to research and consult with experts on technological developments in the field of game development and game design
  • The candidates should be able to oversee renovation and/or upgrade of classrooms and labs to meet the standard for Health and Safety
  • The candidates should be able to provide front-line information to prospective students, visiting dignitaries, and other Sheridan personnel
  • The candidates should be able to participate in special events held by the program and Sheridan events that include the Bachelor Of Game Design program
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as assigned
