Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Civil Technologist Graduate or completion of Department Level III training courses (or currently working towards their Departmental Level III)
Experience: Candidates should have experience in delivery of construction and maintenance projects, (such as culverts, grading and base projects)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work in an outdoor rough terrain environment in both winter and summer and be able to work for extended hours and periods of time
  • The candidates should possess the ability to travel frequently to work sites within the province by ground, water, and air
  • The candidates should be able to work in hazardous conditions near and around waterways, construction equipment, and roadway traffic

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a valid class 5F driver’s licence or similar from another jurisdiction and should possess knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health & Risk Management policies and procedures
  • The candidates should have knowledge of construction survey and inspection procedures and demonstrate knowledge of construction specifications, procedures, and guidelines
  • The candidates should be familiar with construction orders and tender documents
  • The candidates should have experience and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with internal and external stakeholders
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently and display initiative and good judgment
  • The candidates should be able to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • The candidates should demonstrate leadership and ability to plan and organize staff to meet project objectives
  • The candidates should possess strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to supervise department staff designated to a variety of water control projects
  • The candidates should be able to perform advanced technical work, supporting engineers in infrastructure inspection, functional design, environmental licensing, detailed design, and contract administration
  • The candidates should be able to adhere to department standards, policies, and specifications
