Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Golf Management diploma program or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have 1 – 2 years coaching/instructional experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • The candidates should have the ability to obtain City of Brampton Vehicle Operator’s Permit

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a Class “A” PGA of Canada Certification, OR be enrolled for completion in a PGM program or active apprenticeship
  • The candidates should have fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations, and tournament operations
  • The candidates should be PGA of Canada members in good standing and should submit or agree to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
  • The candidates should demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills and should possess a valid “G2” class Ontario driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
  • The candidates should have Smart Serve certification or the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire
  • The candidates should have current Standard First Aid / CPR C certification from an accredited organization, or the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan, organize, and implement a high-quality program that is stimulating and enjoyable for all participants and able to ensure the safety and well-being of registered participants at all times
  • The candidates should be able to assist in managing all aspects of the Golf Operations in the absence of the Recreation Programmer and able to assist in ensuring quality program delivery and excellent customer service to meet current and changing needs of the community
  • The candidates should be able to conduct junior, adult, and senior golf clinics and able to assist or lead the coordination and execution of tournaments and corporate events
  • The candidates should be able to participate as Manager on Duty and able to monitor staff and volunteer schedules sessionally according to program needs and assist with front of the house part-time staff scheduling as required
  • The candidates should be able to provide ongoing supervision, advice, guidance, and direction to on-site part-time staff in the delivery of golf programs, services, and events
  • The candidates should be able to adeptly enforce the rules and regulations of the course and ensure that established procedures are followed by staff and customers on-site
  • The candidates should be able to lead the creation and execution of instructional golf programs and able to manage tee sheets daily and properly reconcile guest rounds and charges
  • The candidates should be able to keep current with industry trends and teaching formats and provide recommendations for ongoing program improvements and able to provide a high level of front-line customer service, including greeting and engaging participants
  • The candidates should be able to follow emergency safety procedures as established at the facility and able to communicate with participants regarding lesson opportunities
  • The candidates should be able to maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situations and able to respond to and assist with on-site emergencies (incidents and accidents)
  • The candidates should be able to complete administrative duties in a timely manner (attendance, incident/accident reports, opening and closing procedures)
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a safe and tidy program space, ensuring equipment is set up and stored appropriately and able to assist customers with club fitting and able to maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • The candidates should be able to effectively respond to and resolve customer complaints and problems and escalate complex concerns, accidents, and incidents to the immediate supervisor for follow-up appropriate action
  • The candidates should be able to understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • The candidates should be able to attend meetings/training and able to be computer literate with experience in POS
