Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) offers culturally sensitive support to Indigenous communities across Alberta. Salary: $5,000 monthly for 35 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract Full time
Location: Edmonton, AB
Shifts: Day, Evening, To be determined, Morning
Transportation information: Own transportation, own vehicle, and travel expenses paid by employer
Work setting: Urban area

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Area of specialization: Aboriginal groups, Adolescents, and Street population
Computer and technology knowledge: Electronic mail, and MS Office 
Credentials: First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, and Driving record check (abstract)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be knowledgeable about socio-economic needs or conditions such as housing, nutrition, unemployment, and financial assistance
  • The candidates should have experience in providing services for the homeless population
  • The candidates should be capable of handling physically demanding tasks while exhibiting attention to detail in their work
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively under tight deadlines, demonstrating attention to detail in their tasks

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • The candidates should exhibit interpersonal awareness, good judgment, and a strong focus on client satisfaction and ethics
  • The candidates should demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and effective teamwork while maintaining organization in their work approach

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform administrative and office activities, including obtaining information and preparing reports or case histories
  • The candidates should be able to appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services and resolve conflict situations effectively
