It collects whole blood, plasma, and platelets through donation events and permanent sites. The team manages donor recruitment, scheduling, and collection logistics while maintaining strict safety standards. It collaborates with hospitals to supply blood for medical treatments and emergencies. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have one-year recent laboratory work experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills, being able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities within short timelines
  • The candidates should have the ability to learn required technical skills and operate related equipment
  • The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts, which are based on operational needs (days, evenings, weekends, overnights, and statutory holidays) and the ability to lift weight up to 20 lbs

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have post-secondary courses in sciences and experience in food processing, pharmaceutical, or biologics manufacturing
  • The candidates should have good oral and written communications with the ability to communicate effectively in English

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to leverage great communication skills to issue blood and related products to customers such as provincial hospitals and other blood centers and communicate with hospital teams about orders placed
  • The candidates should be able to follow Canadian Blood Services’ Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices in all tasks
  • The candidates should be able to receive and store blood and fractionation products while maintaining stock of distribution supplies
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of blood products through ongoing monitoring of product and storage equipment temperature, humidity variations and perform recalls and remove outdated products in a timely manner
  • The candidates should be able to utilize strong organization and time management skills to perform batching and packing of orders by priority and time of delivery
  • The candidates should be able to ensure compliance with established parameters for time and temperature limits during transit
