Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Languages.
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as Bachelor of Science or Doctorate of Pharmacy
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be a licensed Pharmacist in good standing in the province of work.
- The candidate should have skills such as Computer, math, patient care and member service skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to perform direct patient care, dispenses prescription medication and educates patients and also practice to the fullest extent of the expanded scope of pharmacy practice permitted by provincial regulations
- The candidate should be able to dispense prescription medications and apply appropriate auxiliary labels and also check prescriptions and over the counter medications for therapeutic appropriateness including but not limited to drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, dose, frequency, and dosage form.
- The candidate should be able to verify prescriptions and refills with physicians by phone as needed and take verbal prescriptions. Selects therapeutic substitutions when appropriate and also oversees the collection of patient medical history and maintenance of the confidential computer record.
- The candidate should be able to collaborate with other health care professionals as necessary to identify and resolve drug therapy problems, educate patients on proper medication usage, provide prompt and courteous patient care, answer patient questions about over-the-counter medication and product location and also preserve patient confidentiality.
- The candidate should be able to work collaboratively with a Registered Technician to ensure appropriate allocation of work tasks and also recruit patients for and conduct health and wellness clinics and document interventions where permitted by provincial regulations.
- The candidate should be able to adapt, extend, and modify prescriptions as well as perform specific acts under the delegation or collaboration of a prescriber to the extent permitted by provincial regulations and also administer medications to patients by injection where permitted by provincial regulations
- The candidate should be able to conduct full medication reviews, including but not limited to best possible medication histories and medication reconciliation and participate in medication therapy management and do patient follow-up to the extent permitted by provincial regulations and also order and communicate laboratory tests to the extent permitted by provincial regulations.
- The candidate should be able to participate in a culture of patient safety by focusing on practices that reduce and eliminate prescription incidents as well as reporting and properly managing those incidents that do occur and also maintain professional competence through participation in a variety of continuing education initiatives and maintain required certifications in good standing.
- The candidate should be able to follow Costco Pharmacy’s policies, systems and procedure standards and also follow safety and security procedures.
- The candidate should be able to act as Pharmacist-In-Charge in the absence of the pharmacy manager ensuring smooth operation in the dispensary and supervising pharmacy interns and students.
- The candidate should be able to assist with other assigned duties as necessary
