Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
Experience: Candidates should have minimum 1 year previous geriatric experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the physical ability to move swiftly and efficiently throughout healthcare facilities, attending to patients in various settings. This includes walking, standing, and possibly assisting in emergency situations
  • The candidates should lift and assist in transferring patients, especially those with limited mobility. This involves physical strength and proper body mechanics to ensure both patient and nurse safety

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be active or eligible for registration and possess a practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • The candidates should hold a current Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
  • The candidates should have appropriate competency in Meditech, Care Manager, and knowledge of Outlook and MS Teams
  • The candidates should have a broad knowledge of provincial, regional, and local community resources

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work as part of an inter professional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • The candidates should be able to guided by their education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care, reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS
