Work Setting: Work in employer’s/client’s home, Nursing home/home for the aged
Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: The candidate should have standard educational qualification such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience.
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset.
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Driver’s validity licence check, Immunization records
Transportation/travel information: Valid driver’s licence

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be physically demanding and required to perform repetitive tasks on frequent basis.
  • The candidate should be willing to work in bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking position for extended periods of time.

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have dependability, reliability, flexibility and interpersonal awareness.
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills and excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be initiative, judgemental and a good team player.
  • The candidate should be organised and focused on the client.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should supply and empty bed pans, serve meal trays and feed patients, weigh, lift, turn and position patients, make beds and maintain patients’ rooms, supervise patients’ exercise routines, bathe, dress and groom patients.
  • The candidate should be able to deliver messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments.
  • The candidate should assist with the set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, cleaning or sterilizing equipment, maintaining and repairing equipment, and assembling, setting-up and operating job-related equipment.
  • The candidate should transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher, answer call signals, accompany patients on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to patient care and comfort, administer first aid in emergency situations.
