Salary: $18.55 to $26.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 3 to 44 hours per week
Employment Type: Casual employment Part time
Location: Stittsville, ON
Shifts: On Call
Transportation information: Own transportation, Public transportation is available
Work setting: Child care centre, Nursery school, Kindergarten, and Day care centre or nursery school
Supervision: 1 to 2 people

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English or French Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Credentials: Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Food allergy and anaphylaxis training, Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Medical exam, Immunization records, Tuberculosis test, Bondable, Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be adaptable to noisy environments
  • The candidates should be comfortable working in a non-smoking environment
  • The candidates should be able to work in air-conditioned spaces
  • The candidates should be accustomed to performing repetitive tasks and be physically capable of handling demanding tasks
  • The candidates should have a keen attention to detail and be adaptable to a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be comfortable with bending, crouching, and kneeling as needed and possess manual dexterity for various tasks

  • The candidates should prioritize punctuality in their work and be highly dependable
  • The candidates should demonstrate efficient interpersonal skills, exhibit excellent oral and written communication, and showcase flexibility in their approach to tasks
  • The candidates should have interpersonal awareness, good judgment in decision-making, and be reliable in meeting commitments
  • The candidates should be effective team players, uphold values and ethics in their work, and demonstrate initiative
  • The candidates should be highly organized

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, ensuring their basic care needs are met
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should engage children through storytelling to captivate their interest and imagination
  • The candidates should supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, providing guidance and support in the childcare setting
  • The candidates should lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should order supplies and equipment, ensuring the availability of necessary resources for childcare programs
  • The candidates should support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that foster the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records of children’s progress and activities
  • The candidates should engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
  • The candidates should provide opportunities for children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • The candidates should guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • The candidates should maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
  • The candidates should prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • The candidates should observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • The candidates should submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
  • The candidates should discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act and licensing regulations
  • The candidates should establish guidelines for behavior, creating a structured and positive environment for children
  • The candidates should assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • The candidates should attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
  • The candidates should establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
  • The candidates should plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
  • The candidates should supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
