Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
Experience: Candidates should have three years of experience working with individuals who have a serious mental illness

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work effectively with clients from diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
  • The candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy combined with a Master’s degree in OT, Rehab Sciences
  • The candidates should hold membership in the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists and/or the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists
  • The candidates should carry COTO’s pre-requisite Professional Liability Insurance, clinical experience working with clients with chronic pain, addictions, and concurrent mood and anxiety disorders, including PTSD/trauma
  • The candidates should have experience providing assessment and treatment for work-related difficulties in a third-party context, including psychotherapy in a mental health setting
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong functional assessment and therapeutic skills with individuals and groups, possess effective case management and conflict resolution skills
  • The candidates should exhibit superior written and oral communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
  • The candidates should have experience working with multiple stakeholders and be familiar with the research process and standardized measures
  • The candidates should be proficient in computer-based programs, such as Microsoft Office, and electronic communication tools, including electronic health records be bilingual in French and English or have proficiency in a second language

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide specialized assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services for clients with psychological injuries, medication, or substance-related difficulties resulting from traumatic or physical workplace incidents
  • The candidates should be able to ensure client-centered care, maintaining safety, security, and adherence to the COTO standards of occupational therapy, assess clients’ skills and needs, determine treatment and rehabilitation readiness, and support readiness development
  • The candidates should be able to develop, implement, and coordinate rehabilitation-based treatment plans to support clients throughout their treatment and potential return to work, utilize both in-person and virtual modalities to assess and treat clients in individual and group settings based on client
  • The candidates should be able to deliver psychotherapies such as cognitive processing therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, CBT for anxiety and depression, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, behavioural activation, exposure therapy, and goal setting
  • The candidates should be able to support the Clinical Liaison by reviewing reports for quality assurance and assisting with triage mechanisms to facilitate patient flow, submit reports on time, in accordance with contractual requirements, while meeting assigned quality standards
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate professionally and respectfully with clients, WSIB representatives, clinical partner organizations, and other stakeholders to provide excellent customer service
  • The candidates should be able to participate in multidisciplinary education and training initiatives and deliver training to external organizations
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to program development and support new contracts within the broader Work Stress and Health program
  • The candidates should be able to support other services within the Acute Care Program in the role of occupational therapist
