Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a diploma in business administration or finance & administration
Experience: Candidates should have 3 year of work experience in a financial or administration position in a public or private sector organization

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be self-motivated, detail oriented, organized and work independently in a multi-tasked environment
  • The candidates should provide a satisfactory criminal record check

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess knowledge of accounting principles, government organization, policy, and office practices
  • The candidates should have excellent organizational and time management skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to recognize unique situations and exercise good judgment
  • The candidates should be proficient in working in a computerized environment, using advanced word processing functions, spreadsheets, and other applications
  • The candidates should have the ability to train and mentor staff

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to handle day-to-day office operation of the Legal Division by supervising the Legal Assistants and providing financial and administrative coordination and support to the Director and staff within the Division in accordance with relevant GNWT Acts, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to deal with confidential matters that relate to finance, administration, personnel, and legal matters, and interacts with members of the public, legal counsel, and other governments
  • The candidates should be able to handle divisions corporate financial management including coordinating and implementing financial procedures, accounting, reconciliation, and verification of financial transactions, as well as training other staff in the financial and administrative procedures of the office
  • The candidates should be able to accurately calculate funds, balance accounts, and handle money under strict deadlines
  • The candidates should assist in hosting and coordinating Federal, Provincial, and Territorial conferences
