YMCA based in Leamington, ON is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Overnight camp staff. Job Description:

Salary: Salary is not mentioned, $15.00-$20.00 hourly estimated salary
Employment Type: Seasonal contracts
Location: 1118 Point Pelee Dr, Leamington, ON N8H 3V4
Shifts: Sunday afternoon until Friday evening each week

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should possess relevant training and experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be fun and responsible individuals looking to focus on the needs of campers
  • The candidates should be experience working with youth, children and young adults in a camp or outdoor education environment
  • The candidates should be at least 17 years of age by December 31, 2024 in order to be eligible for employment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have National Lifeguarding certification, Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
  • The candidates should have a current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • The candidates should know it is a YMCA of Southwestern Ontario requirement that all employees and volunteers be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • The candidates should know exemptions will be granted upon receipt of acceptable proof of a permissible Human Rights Code ground

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to the YMCA’s mission, vision, & values, manage risk, and reduce harm for themselves, campers, participants, and colleagues
  • The candidates should be able to have fun and use play as a fundamental approach to child and youth development, show initiative by doing the right thing at the right time without being asked, and empower themselves and others to accomplish goals by pre-planning, organizing people and resources, and reflecting on the process and outcomes
  • The candidates should be able to communicate in a thorough, clear, and timely manner that supports information sharing, build positive relationships with colleagues, campers, and community members, and provide high-quality experiences to campers, participants, and families
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate continuous learning and development for themselves, campers, participants, and colleagues, always demonstrating integrity through responsible behavior
