Requirements:

Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be physically fit to lift mail containers of up to 50 lbs, push or pull boxes, sort mail, and stand for extended periods of time
- The candidates should ensure that the premises are fully accessible to persons with disabilities and available for review and approval at least one month before hire
- The candidates should be aware that Postmasters are responsible for rent or lease charges, heating, lighting, cleaning, routine general maintenance, snow removal, municipal taxes, and necessary property and liability insurance coverage
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have owned or leased premises (suitable, central, and barrier-free) available at least one month prior to the date of hire
- The candidates should have experience interacting with the public in a retail and service environment, including handling sales and cash transactions
- The candidates should have knowledge of regulations, methods, and procedures for processing mail and providing postal services
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to liaise with the local community with respect to Canada Post service and products
- The candidates should be able to sell and promote postal products and services to the public and businesses
- The candidates should be able to provide suitable premises in a central location within the community within 30 days should they be the successful candidate
- The candidates should be able to administer the post office to meet retail hours of operation and delivery expectations
- The candidates should be able to manage postal revenue, assets, and values and maintain records and prepare reports
- The candidates should be able to assist with the effective management of mail delivery routes and sort mail to postal boxes, supervise staff and operate the post office with due diligence and efficiency
- The candidates should be able to keep the post office neat and presentable, and maintain cleanliness in accordance with Canada Post’s standards
