Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of an Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or IT
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a postsecondary setting
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have or a related field, or a Graduate degree in similar fields and have a minimum of 5 years practical experience related to the field of study
- The candidates should have hands-on industry experience with Windows Desktop support including account management, storage management, PowerShell automation, permissions management, and SMB share creation or management
- The candidates should have Microsoft certifications as they are considered highly desirable and in-depth practical experience with VSphere or equivalent
- The candidates should have CCNA, CCNP, or CCAI certifications and LPI, Red Hat, or GIAC (GCUX) certifications and demonstrated knowledge and experience in Cloud Computing
- The candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting
- The candidates should have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum
- The candidates should have demonstrated provision of academic leadership examples include but are not limited to providing guidance to colleagues and instructors, being actively involved in curriculum development or program renewal, participating in continued efforts to improve the quality of instruction offered to learners, and serving as program coordinator, academic advisor, or curriculum administrator
- The candidates should have demonstrated commitment to continued learning in teaching and curriculum development examples include, but are not limited to, completion of training programs, participating at teaching and learning conferences, and more extensive training such as the Teaching Adult Lifelong Learners certificate program or other postsecondary programs in education
- The candidates should have highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills and demonstrated skill in Algonquin College’s preferred teaching competencies as set out in the job description
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to consult with program and course administrators, other faculty members, advisory committees, and a variety of potential employers and students
- The candidates should be able to define learning outcomes and evaluate and validate these outcomes and and approve learning approaches and necessary resources
- The candidates should be able to incorporate educational technologies to meet the learning needs of 21st Century students and deliver regularly scheduled instruction in the Fall, Winter, or Summer terms in the home department or across departments
- The candidates should be able to ensure student awareness of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques and revise curriculum and participate in professional development activities during non-teaching periods
- The candidates should be able to provide a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources including educational technologies and academic advising for students both in and out of class
- The candidates should be able to evaluate student progress or achievement and assume responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned courses and create a learning environment that is conducive to success for all students
- The candidates should be able to provide guidance to students, instructors, and part-time professors relative to the professor’s teaching assignments and participate in the work of curriculum and other consultative committees, and departmental or faculty meetings
- The candidates should be able to liaise with community members, engaging in program, Department, School or Faculty, and College promotion
