Requirements:

Education:Â Candidates should hold a postgraduate degree in Nursing for Nurse Practitioner Clinical Associates, in addition to being Registered Nurses with BCCNP
Experience: Candidates should have three years of nursing and administrative experience
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be Registered Nurses with BCCNP certification
- The candidates should possess an undergraduate degree in Nursing for Clinical Associates, along with registration with BCCNP
- The candidates should hold a postgraduate degree in Nursing for Nurse Practitioner Clinical Associates, in addition to being Registered Nurses with BCCNP
- The candidates should have nursing licensure in British Columbia
- The candidates should have current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC)
- The candidates should hold current certification in basic CPR
- The candidates for Clinical Associate roles should have a minimum of two years of experience in a clinical position

- The candidates should have experience working with First Nations in a culturally safe manner and knowledge of First Nations health issues and the healthcare system in British Columbia
- The candidates should preferably have completed the San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Course or be willing to undergo training
- The candidates should be willing to undergo training and OCAP certification is preference
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to effectively deal with others in a consultative/collaborative and culturally safe manner
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize work and to work independently
- The candidates should demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to understand and respect First Nations cultural principles and protocols, applying this understanding in work situations, as it is an important component of the position
- The candidates should be able to coordinate and implement the Kidney Check project in BC in collaboration with the Kidney Check Project Coordinator
- The candidates should be able to perform nursing duties and work collaboratively with local community health teams
- The candidates should be able to provide training and mentorship to local community health teams to develop on-site capacity to conduct the program
- The candidates should be able to assist in the planning and development of community-based screening programs, ensuring the Can-SOLVE CKD / BC Renal screening protocols and referral pathways are implemented
- The candidates should be able to perform primary screening and risk prediction for kidney health wellness and disease on First Nations individuals, using culturally safe engagement practices
- The candidates should be able to communicate pertinent information such as lab results and the meaning of lab results to individuals, using culturally safe engagement practices
- The candidates should be able to work with community-based teams to ensure there is a process for referrals to a higher level of care, incorporating information and communication technologies such as advanced point of care testing equipment
- The candidates should be able to implement a sustainable holistic care and referral process for people at higher risk of kidney failure immediately to kidney health clinics within the health authority region Kidney Programs (HARPS), Kidney Agency
- The candidates should be able to co-manage those at lower risk with local health care teams, including community health staff
- The candidates should be able to facilitate relationships with family physicians, specialists, and Community Health Program staff to ensure continuity of follow-up care for clients
- The candidates should be able to engage in capacity building and/or knowledge transfer to local health care teams
- The candidates should be able to mentor nurses working in the community to educate and coach clients on kidney health and wellness
- The candidates should be able to mentor nurses working within the community to follow the recommended screening process
- The candidates should be able to provide training on the use of point of care testing and evaluation of screening results based on established protocols to community staff (CHNs, LPNs, and other identified staff)
- The candidates should be able to mentor nurses working in the community to clean and check point of care equipment for purposes of quality assurance
- The candidates should be able to evaluate the effectiveness of screening and referral services to ensure the project is meeting clinical targets (e.g., screening time, treatment time, duration between interventions)
- The candidates should be able to identify problems along screening, treatment, and follow-up care pathways
- The candidates should be able to participate in the resolution of any problems identified along screening and referral pathways
- The candidates should be able to ensure the security, confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of individual client records
- The candidates should be able to adhere to the restrictions deemed appropriate on the use and storage of data
- The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as assigned
