Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a diploma in recreation or a related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a passion for creative arts such as music therapy, art therapy, or artistic expression
- The candidates should be energetic and compassionate individuals who enjoy working with the elderly and have experience in programming and planning for seniors in a recreational environment
- The candidates should possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong computer skills
- The candidates should possess a Class G Driver’s License as an asset
- The candidates should provide proof of current, valid CPR and First Aid Certification, as well as a Safe Food Handler’s Course, as required
- The candidates should be able to work flexible hours
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to collaborate with each resident and/or family to assess their engagement in meaningful activities in the six dimensions of wellness – Physical, Social, Intellectual, Vocational, Emotional, and Spiritual
- The candidate should be able to assist each resident in achieving their goals to enhance their overall wellness and assist with defining strategies for achieving those goals
- The candidate should be able to develop, analyze, and review resident-directed individualized and community-wide programs
- The candidate should be able to foster partnerships with local businesses and community groups to facilitate program development
- The candidate should be able to evaluate programming to ensure that the programs are meeting the residents’ needs and expectations, along with upholding established expectations
- The candidate should be able to collaborate with the Recreation team to develop a plan for full-scope wellness programming for all service lines
- The candidate should be able to oversee the process of orientation for each new resident to the recreation department, services offered, and activities/amenities available to them
- The candidate should be able to oversee Recreation services for special functions, ensuring organization, cost efficiency, and appropriate staffing
