Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies
Experience: Candidates should have minimum three years’ related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA)
  • The candidates should possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in their clinical area is evidence-based, patient- and family-centered, and in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards of practice
  • The candidates should be able to provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care and coordinate the assessment, treatment, education, and care of the patient (client, resident)
  • The candidates should be able to participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to complete assessment, treatment, education, and management of clients’ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate and communicate with the healthcare team, participate in patient rounds, family conferences, and meetings related to the client and family
