Government of Yukon’s Highways and Public Works department manages infrastructure and transportation projects in the territory. It oversees road maintenance, construction, and public works initiatives to ensure safe and efficient transportation networks. Through strategic planning and collaboration with stakeholders, it enhances Yukon’s infrastructure and fosters economic development. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as University degree in Engineering with a focus on civil/structural or related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have experience managing large programs overseeing multiple contracts at a time

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work under pressure on tight deadlines
  • The candidates should be capable of planning, organizing, and leading the design and construction of territory-wide vegetation control projects
  • The candidates should be willing to travel throughout the Yukon depending on project locations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have procurement experience and demonstrate the ability to engage with stakeholders effectively
  • The candidates should have experience in project management, including planning, managing several contracts simultaneously, handling budgets, and supervising technical and professional staff and consultants
  • The candidates should possess the ability to collaborate within a team environment as well as work independently and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills and should hold a valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s License
  • The candidates should have the ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate projects and plan, organize, and lead medium to long-term capital development plans
  • The candidates should be able to establish strong and effective working relationships with senior management and other stakeholders

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to be responsible for the planning, management, design, procurement, and construction of the vegetation control program and related projects carried out by the Transportation Engineering Branch
  • The candidates should be able to manage the Rural Road Upgrading Program (RRUP), Resource Roads Access Program (RRAP), and Construction Manager Standing Offer Agreement (SOA) as part of their duties
