Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Completion of an undergraduate degree in systems or computing engineering or information technology or related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of two years’ of previous experience in marketing technologies

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a Master’s degree and should have a track record in business development or marketing
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of business development, contract and agreements, and intellectual property program design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation methodologies, processes, and practices
  • The candidates should have knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies, and procedures and demonstrate knowledge of the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
  • The candidates should be familiar with office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to explain early-stage technologies to prospective industry partners and have strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate positive interactions with others and provide reliable follow-up with customers
  • The candidates should have demonstrated ability to conduct research independently, to understand complex technologies, and develop concise, clear synopses of market information
  • The candidates should be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple projects and priorities, and dealing efficiently with deadlines and time constraints
  • The candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to varied audiences
  • The candidates should demonstrate ability to deal with confidential material and sensitive client interaction issues with tact and discretion and have knowledge of cultural competency and diversity

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to seek out commercialization opportunities to promote innovations disclosed to Carleton University
  • The candidates should be able to assess the commercial potential of innovations by conducting market and industry analysis, identifying potential partners, and developing marketing material
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement general and technology-specific marketing strategies to promote innovations and able to review technologies from Carleton faculty to assess their commercial value and path to market
  • The candidates should be able to conduct market research to identify potential development and licensing partners and able to evaluate the market potential of faculty innovations by researching the target market, including size, dynamics, barriers to entry, and unmet needs
  • The candidates should be able to present and market technologies at local industry conferences as requested by the Assistant Director
  • The candidates should be able to create impactful, non-confidential marketing materials such as brochures, websites, flyers, graphics, posters, and marketing sheets for potential commercial partners and licensees
  • The candidates should be able to perform financial analyses and valuations of technology disclosures and able to compile and track commercial outreach activities, responses, and follow-up actions for all technologies in the group’s Outreach Log
  • The candidates should be able to provide updates on the status of analysis and outreach activities to the Assistant Director
