Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of an accredited nursing program and hold a current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province
Experience: Candidates should have two years of experience working as a nurse
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be prepared to work in Whole Blood and Apheresis collections and work days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and work 07:45 – 15:45 and 10:45 – 18:45
- The candidates should be willing to travel for mobile events in the communities, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services
- The physical requirements for the role include the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs.) and days are Sun/Mon, Mon/Tues, Tues/Wed, Wed/Thurs, Thurs/Fri, Fri/Sat, or Sat/Sun
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have as well as certification in First Aid and CPR and previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching others
- The candidates should possess technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to communicate effectively with donors to conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build a positive donor experience
- The candidates should be able to provide donors with information, instruction, and advice on blood donation using superb people skills
- The candidates should be able to offer coaching and consultation to donor center staff, acting as team lead for collection events as needed, drawing on their knowledge and experience
- The candidates should be able to work in a diverse team environment to assist in the collection of whole blood and apheresis blood components, which save lives daily, using excellent interpersonal skills
- The candidates should be able to assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment at mobile events within communities to ensure donor clinics are properly set up for use
