Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have minimum four years’ experience (a combination of para-professional and professional experience is acceptable) working in a university or post-secondary residence setting or similar environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience with developing and implementing community residence-based programs and community engagement strategies
  • The candidates should possess experience in advising and referrals, programming, community management, and adjudicating student conduct in a post-secondary residence community
  • The candidates should have experience working with diverse student communities and a commitment to improving and enhancing the student experience
  • The candidates should demonstrate experience providing support to individuals in distress, issues management, and monitoring crisis response and intervention
  • The candidates should have experience supervising and training casual staff and students
  • The candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The candidates should have intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database systems
  • The candidates should have flexibility to work an irregular schedule with the ability to be on-call and within a confined radius to the University
  • The candidates should meet the requirement to live in residence on the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide coordination of front-line issues management for students living in residence with diverse backgrounds, interests, needs, and skills
  • The candidates should be able to lead the creation of a supportive and inclusive environment by fostering contributions from residence staff and students
  • The candidates should be able to plan, develop, and implement components of co-curricular programs, project initiatives/activities, and community engagement strategies for students living in residence
  • The candidates should be able to plan and deliver services and supports, contributing to the selection, training, and supervision of casual staff
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate problem-solving, referrals, and address student conduct issues, emphasizing safety awareness and planning
  • The candidates should be able to respond to on-call duties, manage issues, and handle crisis and routine emergency response
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate student staff and residence experiences, promoting student leadership and civic engagement
  • The candidates should be able to provide support to a specific residence community at UTSC
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement community engagement strategies and plans
  • The candidates should be able to plan and implement components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate educational workshops and seminars, such as delivering training and presentations to Residence Advisors to promote programs/initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to apply established standards when responding to emergencies
  • The candidates should be able to interpret applicable guidelines and protocols to determine policy violations
  • The candidates should be able to investigate community standard and housing policy breaches
  • The candidates should be able to resolve minor interpersonal disputes between students and/or student staff
  • The candidates should be able to handle the selection, training, and coaching of casual staff
