Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Post-secondary education in Law and Security, Police Foundations or the approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completed a recognized Public Safety Communications course and possess knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and regulations in Security and Life Safety management
  • The candidates should have a minimum of three (3) years of full-time alarm monitoring, dispatch, CCTV monitoring, and/or Call Centre experience in a security, government, commercial, or health care environment
  • The candidates should have a thorough understanding of legal authorities related to arrest, search, and seizure and demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to build relationships
  • The candidates should exhibit strong coaching, mentoring, and staff development skills and have strong analytical skills necessary to resolve problems and look for solutions
  • The candidates should be experienced in proper investigation procedures to ensure that incidents are properly handled and documented and have in-depth knowledge of Security and Life Safety technology (i.e., CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, Intrusion) and other security-related systems
  • The candidates should possess a working knowledge of site security and life safety needs and industry-related techniques, technology, and trends and demonstrate strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to delegate effectively and be flexible and adaptable when dealing with a diversity of people and situations and have digital literacy in Word and Google Suite
  • The candidates should possess highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills, including conflict resolution, problem-solving, decision-making, and situational awareness and highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to be confident, clear, respectful, and sensitive
  • The candidates should possess and have the ability to maintain a valid Security Guard License in accordance with the Ontario Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005, S.O. 2005, c. 34
  • The candidates should possess and have the ability to maintain a valid certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR level ‘C’ and be certified to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and possess and have the ability to maintain a valid Province of Ontario, Class “G” Driver’s License and City’s Driver’s Permit
  • The candidates should have the ability to successfully complete mandatory training and recertification as required by Security Services including, but not limited to, emergency dispatcher training, de-escalation training, Standard First Aid, CPR level ‘C’ and AED, WHMIS, and other position-related training

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to provide direct supervision to Security Dispatchers and oversee the day-to-day operation of a shift, including on-shift support for training, scheduling, and disciplining
  • The candidate should be able to collaborate with operating units to meet key service deliverables for supporting programs to meet operational effectiveness and service level standards
  • The candidate should be able to provide leadership to Security Dispatchers within the section, including training, mentoring, coaching, and performance management
  • The candidate should be able to supervise a team of security dispatchers during their shift and assist with the supervision of in-house and contracted security guards
  • The candidate should be able to ensure all daily operations of the security team are completed and assist Team Leads with providing direction for all work, assignments, breaks, and tasks
  • The candidate should be able to conduct pre-duty meetings, post-incident, and post-shift briefings with dispatch staff and strictly control the quality of service of the activities under their supervision
  • The candidate should be able to recruit, select, and train new Security Dispatchers and oversee or facilitate the orientation and training of new employees
  • The candidate should be able to provide direction to dispatchers during incidents and handle and respond to escalated complex issues through effective investigation, mediation, and conflict resolution
  • The candidate should be able to answer queries and respond to requests from internal customers, business partners, and the public and maintain awareness and communicate with staff in a timely manner on current events and relevant information
  • The candidate should be able to communicate and coordinate with event staff and organizers, ensuring the safety of staff, attendees, and participants, and develop specific service standards and productivity measures
  • The candidate should be able to develop and maintain a dispatch knowledge base and standard operating procedures, issue memos, updates logs, and databases, and troubleshoot technical issues involving both software and hardware
  • The candidate should be able to perform other administrative duties as required and ensure monitoring and completion of patrol and dispatch logs and incident reporting
