Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a university degree in a related discipline (e.g. systems, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering)
Experience: Candidates should have interface management experience for large multi-discipline projects; or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent

  • The candidates should have proven experience in planning, evaluating, performing, and reporting V&V activities from project definition to project delivery and beyond (performance demonstration experience)
  • The candidates should have experience and knowledge of Systems Engineering Processes, a Requirements-based approach, and diverse development models
  • The candidates should possess hands-on experience with TADI activities applicable to requirements, capabilities, constraints, and interfaces
  • The candidates should be familiar with System of Systems architecture, Integration Management, Integrated (Interdisciplinary) design, Interface Management, stakeholder engagement, and multidisciplinary integration (Facilities, Infrastructure, and Systems)
  • The candidates should have experience with multi-project programs and various complexity levels of projects, which is an asset
  • The candidates should have the ability to interpret project documentation, plans, processes, and project drawings using demonstrated knowledge of applicable construction contracts, procurement, codes, standards, regulations, and statutes
  • The candidates should be able to interpret complex reports, recognize problems, and evaluate solutions
  • The candidates should possess sound judgment and decision-making skills, well-developed technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to coordinate complex, multi-faceted issues/tasks in a challenging environment that is schedule-driven
  • The candidates should have the ability to motivate and coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives
  • The candidates should be proficient in the use of computer software applications relevant to the work (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • A valid Province of Ontario Class G driver’s licence would be an asset. The candidates may be required to use their own vehicle for visits to construction sites that are not easily accessible by public transit
  • The candidates must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
  • The candidates must have or quickly acquire a thorough knowledge of TTC/Group/Department organizational structure, operations, policies, processes, and procedures applicable to the work performed
  • The candidates must have or quickly acquire comprehensive knowledge of Subway Operations (i.e., organizational structure, operating rules, procedures, policies, etc.)
  • The candidates must successfully complete TTC safety training and testing as applicable to the work performed

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide systems engineering expertise in designing tests, performing testing and commissioning activities, and providing suitable and sufficient evidence to confirm that the operational, technical, and safety principles demanded by the designated authorities have been validated
  • The candidates should be able to manage and support test and commissioning activities in various systems including Signals/Train Control, Communications, Traction Power, Subway Ventilation, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and Trackwork
  • The candidates should be able to manage and work with specialized TTC and contract resources engaged in testing and commissioning
  • The candidates should be able to perform testing and commissioning in various systems to ensure compliance with all safety, functional, and performance requirements
  • The candidates should be able to develop and execute required test processes, ensuring completion of tests and providing continuous improvement feedback to project teams
  • The candidates should be able to develop and update the “Program Validation and Verification (V&V) Management Plan (VMP)” for the Programs/Projects life cycle
  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain templates for Projects’ VMP, Verification Plans, Validation Plans, Test/Analyses/Demonstration/Inspection (TADI) Procedures, Cases, reports, forms, V&V progress measurement, and periodical reports
  • The candidates should be able to verify that Projects are in compliance with Program VMP, Project plans, and standard guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to plan Program V&V activities and guide Projects in planning V&V activities
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate the Program and Projects requirements “Verifiability” and assign Verification methods to the program and project requirements
  • The candidates should be able to accurately capture all test and commissioning results, perform audits of testing records, identify and manage resolution of test risks, and investigate and analyze failures
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers, Operations staff, and external consultants/contractors to optimize site tests and investigate testing issues
  • The candidates should be able to review technical packages (studies, analyses, and designs) to evaluate compliance with V&V requirements and guidelines and ensure that submittals include verification of implementation of each requirement. Evaluate correctness and completeness of the contents from the V&V perspective
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate, review, and validate Clear Box TADI developed plans, results, and reports of performed verifications (Construction and/or Implementation phases)
  • The candidates should be able to lead, Plan, and Execute Black Box TADI based on the requirements (independent of design and implementation)
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to and evaluate the planning and execution of technical “Close Out” and operational “Start-Up” processes (Handover Phase)
  • The candidates should be able to maintain the V&V information (such as documents, drawings, defects, NCRs, signatures and approvals, emails, analysis files, simulation models, requirements specifications, etc.) under configuration management
  • The candidates should be able to review testing and commissioning documentations to reinforce formal submissions
  • The candidates should be able to review and provide comments on all ECE or external sources submissions at various stages of design completion for new constructions and renovations including comments from a testing point of view
