Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of English, French and Bilingual languages.
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications such as high school, bachelor’s degree, a certificate or a diploma. If the candidates’ education credentials do not come from a recognized Canadian postsecondary institution, you will need to provide proof of Canadian equivalency for his/her degree and the accounting courses on the transcript. Any applicable fees is the candidates’ responsibility.
Experience: Candidates need a minimum of twelve (12) cumulative months of experience in the last five (5) years. The candidate should have experience with businesses, partnerships, corporations, or trusts OR the candidate should have experience in conducting or managing audits or examinations (or audit or examination support) while appointed at the group and level (or equivalent or higher). The experience may include, but will not be limited to, experience in Audit, Business Intelligence and Quality Assurance (BIQA), Appeals, Criminal Investigations or Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR and ED) to administer or enforce the Income Tax Act or the Excise Tax Act.

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to work in an active role ensuring everyone plays their rightful part in Canada’s tax system and touch the life of every person in Canada
  • The candidate should be able to work on some of the largest, most complex legal entities in the country, as well as high-complexity audit cases
  • The candidate should have a valid Driver’s license or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver’s license and also be willing to travel
  • The candidate should be willing to work overtime
  • The candidate should be able to meet the security clearance

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to work with being called upon to audit files that are part of the following programs, without being limited to: the observation of taxpayers doing business abroad or holding property there, the audit of groups of wealthy taxpayers, the audit of tax promoters, the audit aimed at aggressive tax planning aspects, the audit of large companies and the audit of small and medium enterprises
  • The candidate should be able to perform duties of Income Tax Auditor, Tax Avoidance Auditor and International Tax Auditor
  • The candidate should be able to conduct or manage audits to ensure compliance under the Income Tax Act, Excise Tax Act or provincial tax acts and also prepare, review or approve tax returns or financial statements for corporations or trusts or GST/HST returns
  • The candidate should be able administer accounting policies of a partnership, corporation or trust and also provide tax advice under the Income Tax Act, Excise Tax Act or provincial tax acts
  • The candidate should be able to interpret statutes administered by the CRA.
