DAIRY QUEEN based in Whitby, ON is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Shift manager – fast food restaurant. DAIRY QUEEN is an American chain of soft serve ice cream and fast food restaurants owned by International Dairy Queen, Inc. (a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway since 1998) which also owns Orange Julius, and formerly owned Karmelkorn and Golden Skillet Fried Chicken. We had more than 6,400 stores in 27 countries, including more than 1,400 outside the United States and Canada. The largest Dairy Queen in the US is in Bloomington, Illinois. The largest in the world is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the busiest in the world is in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates need experience of 1 year to less than 2 years

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to work under pressure, in fast-paced environment, maintain tight deadlines and also stand for extended periods

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to work with being focused on the client and also in a flexible environment
  • The candidate should be a team player
  • The candidate should have effficient interpersonal skills and also an excellent oral communication
  • The candidate should be able to supervise 5-10 people and also food service counter attendants and food preparers


  • The candidate should be able to supervise and co-ordinate activities of staff who prepare and portion food, train staff in job duties, sanitation and safety procedures and also hire food service staff
  • The candidate should be able to estimate and order ingredients and supplies, ensure food service and quality control, maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage and also prepare and submit reports
  • The candidate should be able to establish methods to meet work schedules, establish work schedules, prepare budget and cost estimates, address customers’ complaints or concerns and also maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage
  • The candidate should be able to supervise and check assembly of trays and also supervise and check delivery of food trolleys
