Physical Requirements:

- The candidates should be registered and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
- The candidates should be eligible for adjunct and status-only appointments with university faculties affiliated with CAMH and clinical experience working with FNIM people who have addictions and concurrent disorders
- The candidates should self-identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis and have demonstrated skills in providing quality care to First Nation, Inuit, and Métis clients, collaborating with relevant service providers, organizations, and communities
- The candidates should have demonstrated proficiency in assessment and treatment of concurrent disorders, goal setting, stages of change, relapse prevention planning, substance use psychoeducation, treatment planning, trauma treatments, harm-reduction, trauma-informed care, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and care provision for 2SLGBTQ+ clients
- The candidates should have certifications in substance use interventions such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Seeking Safety and possess knowledge of FNIM cultures, history, historical trauma, intergenerational trauma, and social determinants of health
- The candidates should have comprehensive knowledge of community FNIM substance use service delivery networks, organizations, resources, and referral sources in Toronto and Ontario
- The candidates should have a foundation of cultural, traditional knowledge systems and the ability to integrate these perspectives with evidence-based clinical interventions and demonstrated skills in therapeutic engagement, conflict resolution, and group facilitation
- The candidates should possess excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, oral presentation skills, and strong interpersonal skills and be proficient with computer skills, including documenting on an electronic health record system, word processing, electronic communication, and imputing workload measures and bilingualism (French and English) and First Nations, Inuit, or Métis language skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide direct clinical care as part of an FNIM inter-professional team, offering a holistic and culturally sensitive approach to care
- The candidates should be able to facilitate orientation circles and provide comprehensive assessments related to recovery and coping skills for individuals dealing with substance use, mental health issues, and trauma
- The candidates should be able to facilitate group sessions on recovery, coping strategies, and related topics while providing limited individual counselling and discharge planning
- The candidates should be able to support Cultural Care Practitioners in conducting ceremonies, including smudging, drumming, singing, and participating in sacred practices such as the Sweat Lodge
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with inpatient and outpatient CAMH services and FNIM community agencies to coordinate and deliver integrated care for clients
- The candidates should be able to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds, including individuals identifying along the 2SLGBTQ+ spectrum
- The candidates should be able to supervise Master of Social Work students, offering guidance and mentorship
- The candidates should be able to contribute to Shkaabe Makwa’s program development, research activities, evaluations, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- The candidates should be able to input workload data as required and demonstrate flexibility with evening hours
- The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as required to support the clinical services provided by Shkaabe Makwa
