Work schedule: Monday to Friday – 7am to 3:30pm

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have current and valid 307A Certificate of Qualification in the province of Ontario
Experience: Candidates should have 2 to 5 years of prior experience as a Steamfitter/Pipefitter in an industrial setting

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to lift 50 lbs, also they should able to climb and work on ladders, as well as work at height
  • The candidates should be able to work in exposure to extreme temperature ranges, careful and exacting work and areas that are continually exposed to grease, oil, dust, and fumes
  • The candidates should be able to work in confined spaces that have been correctly permitted and monitored for vessel entry
  • The candidates should be able to safely operate a fork truck and perform tasks such as walking, standing, stooping, or kneeling for extended periods of time
  • The candidates should be able to use testing equipment to check systems for leaks

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of Food Safety Programs (HACCP and GMP), Predictive Maintenance techniques and CWB welding certificates
  • The candidates should be able to communicate with colleagues and promote a safe working mentality on the job and participate in various safety-related and technical training and manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and understand complex instructions
  • The candidates should have experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting piping systems, including tasks such as removing and replacing worn components, performing general maintenance work, and working on plant shut-downs
  • The candidates should be proficient in various areas, including Preventative Maintenance, Hand/Power tools, Machine tools, Measurement devices (including calipers), Welding and cutting skills, and Basic rigging skills
  • The candidates should be able to use, interpret, and care for tools and equipment commonly employed on an industrial project, such as cutting torches, threading machines, grinders, beveling machines and round-up clamps
  • The candidates should have the ability to read and interpret shop prints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use, and lay out the sequence of tasks. They may sometimes need to make detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation
  • The candidates should have prior experience in working with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • The candidates should be able to wear standard required PPE at all times, including safety shoes, safety glasses, and a hard hat
  • The candidates should be able to wear specialized PPE as required, such as a fall arrest harness and lanyard or a respirator
  • The candidates should have experience in food safety standards, operating a forklift, pipe welding, facilities management, machinist, manufacturing, operations management and quality control

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by safely performing maintenance tasks to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all facility equipment, including process and steam distribution system piping
  • The candidates should be able to weld and fabricate pipe spools, cut and bevel pipe using cutting torches, saws, threading machines, and pipe cutting machines
  • The candidates should be able to assemble and install a variety of valves and fittings, prepare and fit pipe for welding by a certified welder, or join pipe and fittings by means of threaded, brazed and soldered joints
  • The candidates should be able to secure pipe to structures with clamps, brackets, or hangers, and cut penetrations in walls, ceilings and floors
  • The candidates should be able to fabricate, install, position, or connect components, parts, finished products, or instruments for testing purposes, including hydro testing
  • The candidates should be able to operate a forklift to move parts and materials, maintain inventory of consumable materials related to the trade, and advise the supervisor to reorder
