Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Grade 12 OSS Diploma or equivalency in Ontario
Experience: Candidates should have minimum one year work related experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be at least 18 years of age
  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • The candidates should be able to meet the physical demands requirements of the position

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess chainsaw experience/certification
  • The candidates should have arena experience with ice resurface and basic refrigeration experience and should have knowledge of turf, sports field maintenance, and related equipment
  • The candidates should have experience with the operation of small equipment (mowers, trimmers, brush chippers, etc.) and heavier equipment (trucks, trailers, tractors, etc.). Experience working in a cemetery environment
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of operating job-related equipment and should hold a valid Class G Driver’s License or higher (proof of license is required upon offer of employment)
  • The candidates should provide a valid Police Information Check (must be dated within the last six months) and Proof of the check is required upon offer of employment
  • The candidates should have First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS training (proof of training/certificate)
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to deal effectively with the public and should be capable of following direction

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform grounds maintenance tasks such as pruning trees and shrubs, grass cutting, trimming, digging, raking, leaf and garbage removal
  • The candidates should be able to maintain playground equipment and sports fields
  • The candidates should be able to perform minor carpentry work and general building maintenance as needed
