Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the Nunavut are Inuktut, English or French Language
Education: Candidates should have successful completion of an accredited sonography program and current registration with the Sonography Canada
Experience: Candidates should have two (2) years of sonography experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should engage in Continuing Education to maintain Sonography Canada registration and stay current with ever-changing technology. This involves completing 40 credits of continuing sonography education and/or relevant practice education credits every three years
  • The candidates should hold annual certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • The candidates should possess fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to proficiently scan, interpret, and produce quality ultrasound images to aid in the accurate and timely diagnosis of patients
  • The candidates should be able to act as a resource to nurses in Community Health Centers and the Obstetrical Team at Qikiqtani General Hospital by attending weekly antenatal clinic rounds
  • The candidates should be able to independently use ultrasound equipment to produce and interpret high-quality sonographic images as required by off-site Radiologists for accurate patient diagnosis
  • The candidates should be able to provide ultrasound services on-site and may be required to travel to provide services, impacting the excellence of patient care, treatment, and diagnosis provided by the healthcare team

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Northern Allowance of $16,008 and recruitment bonuses include $3,000 on start date, $3,000 at 6 months of service, $5,000 at 1 year of service and $7,000 at 2 years of service
