Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a two year diploma in Construction and Mechanical
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in a construction or mechanical field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to set, operate, maintain, calibrate, repair, replace, troubleshoot, and install all hand tools, power tools, equipment, and machinery used in the carpentry trades
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a valid driver’s license and Forklift and Skid Steer certification and with time spent organizing and maintaining a trades-related shop environment
- The candidates should have experience with the operation of a shear and the handling of gas, gas manifolds, and gas cylinders
- The candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- The candidates should have well-developed verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with staff
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to create an ongoing preventative maintenance schedule to select and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery in proper working order, including routine cleanliness, maintenance, sharpening, and tune-up and assess the working condition of tools, equipment, and machinery and install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair, and replace or arrange for such work on an as-needed basis
- The candidates should be able to work with faculty and administration to purchase materials, tools, equipment, and machinery for programming, including liaising with outside contractors and suppliers for procurement of quotes for services and supplies needed by the faculty and programs
- The candidates should be able to use computer or college software for receiving purposes, prepare and provide ordering information to administration, purchase, and arrange for delivery, and if needed, pick up materials
- The candidates should be able to receive, store, organize, track, and maintain inventory; prepare and distribute material, tools, tool kits, and equipment for use and ensure equipment, materials, supplies, and tools are safely transported, installed, and stored on all sites
- The candidates should be able to maintain tool cabinets for programs in an orderly fashion that assists in keeping track of inventory and promotes safety and store supplies, materials, tools, equipment, and student projects for courses to assist in the smooth functioning of the shop environments
- The candidates should be able to coordinate the sustainable removal of debris and dust collection bins (related to academic programming)Â and maintain the ACCE storage areas and loading dock by making space available, distributing mail, packing, and warehousing items to protect against damage, breakage, and inclement weather, and maintaining inventory
- The candidates should be able to liaise with supervisor, college safety advisors, and suppliers to ensure technical and safety requirements are achieved concerning new tools, equipment, and machinery requirements electrical, dust collection, shipping, and installment recommendations) for future on and off-campus locations
- The candidates should be able to support faculty and students to help ensure that all shop-related safety measures, shop policies, and procedures are adhered to by all users and monitor equipment operation for safety hazards and act as appropriate to help ensure safety requirements are achieved on existing and future sites
- The candidates should be able to maintain the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and other safety measures or documents for the shop and liaise as necessary with administration, faculty, physical resources department, and outside contractors, manufacturers, tradespeople, or suppliers regarding technical requirements, project requirements, and critical equipment failure and repair
- The candidates should be able to arrange for forklift maintenance on a regular basis, conduct daily maintenance and inspections, maintain the forklift activity record and log, and arrange for service
