Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of four years of University engineering training
Experience: Candidates should have up to 8 years of experience with the planning, assessment, design and/or maintenance of equipment and distribution system
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage distribution systems and assets, possess excellent written and oral communication skills and exhibit strong organization and planning skills
- The candidates should demonstrate a commitment to customer values and Hydro One goals and objectives and ability to work in a project environment under tight timelines, interfacing with other experts, customers, field staff, and project managers/engineers
- The candidates should have detailed knowledge of electrical theory and principles underlying the design of electric power systems
- The candidates should have a good working knowledge of the Hydro One investment planning and accounting systems and processes
- The candidates should possess knowledge of engineering science, business administration, project management, and electric power systems and knowledge of technical writing
- The candidates should apply mathematical and statistical knowledge and skills to perform analytical studies on the performance and design of distribution systems and assets
- The candidates should have broad experience related to the design, performance, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of distribution systems and assets
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to conduct technical, economic, and regulatory impact assessments, along with other specialized technical studies, to determine distribution system needs related to distribution stations, lines, and distributed generation
- The candidates should be able to develop alternatives and preferred solutions, facilitating the delivery of solutions through suppliers and service providers and recognize areas requiring study or actions, recommend and participate in programs to improve performance or avoid problems
- The candidates should be able to present solutions, producing necessary documentation to substantiate recommendations and provide guidance to and collaborate with other interested groups and individuals in implementing recommendations
- The candidates should be able to prepare portions of the Investment Plan related to Distribution Asset Management programs and projects and administer and assist the manager in planning work programs and developing budgets
- The candidates should be able to prepare submissions to compliance and regulatory bodies and analyze costs, including labor and material, providing explanations for variances
- The candidates should be able to ensure the plan and execution schedule satisfy asset and customer needs and define and prepare stations, lines, and distributed generation projects and programs
- The candidates should be able to define the scope of work or program work specifications to an appropriate level of detail and definition and work with service providers to manage risks and ensure estimates of appropriate quality
- The candidates should be able to develop or obtain estimates for work and create business cases to obtain the release of funds and monitor, oversee, and redirect programs and projects during the execution phase
- The candidates should be able to coordinate activities with multiple service providers and stakeholders and resolve problems through analysis and application of specialized technology or theory
- The candidates should be able to provide necessary technical direction to service providers and negotiate performance targets and evaluate and communicate lessons learned to improve future processes and work accomplishment
- The candidates should be able to maintain awareness of advancing technology developments in distribution telecommunication, automation, monitoring, and protection and control systems and monitor the status of distribution system and asset standards and suggest modifications and additions
- The candidates should be able to assist the manager in identifying resource needs and developing/mentoring new staff and represent the unit in discussions and negotiations with customers, stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and suppliers
- The candidates should be able to perform other duties as required
