Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Business Administration and Accounting Diploma
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada and travel within the service area
  • The candidates should have a satisfactory Enhanced Security Screening Level IV and satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search)
  • The candidates should have satisfactory Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Checks and travel to remote communities via airplane

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a combination of related education, training, and experience and experience performing accounting transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, creating financial reports, and/or maintaining financial records
  • The candidates should have strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and effectively manage deadlines and work with a high level of accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail and manage confidential and sensitive information
  • The candidates should have strong problem-solving skills and good use of judgment and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), as well as keyboarding and data entry skills
  • The candidates should have effective written communication skills with experience drafting and editing correspondence or other communications
  • The candidates should have effective verbal communication skills to clearly and professionally communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • The candidates should be able to work independently with minimal supervision and knowledge of the Criminal Justice system and its components
  • The candidates should have experience with interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • The candidates should have experience with government accounting programs such as SAP, QuickBooks, or GenTax, including the financial, timekeeping, and procurement modules

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to dual report to the financial analyst and the manager of the Compensation for Victims of Crime Program and report on Grants/CSAs related costs and spending
  • The candidates should be able to manage the overall financial administration of the Compensation for Victims of Crime Program (CVCP), Victim Witness Account, Victim Travel Fund, and Grant or CSA’s
  • The candidates should be able to track and balance Grants/CSAs related costs and spending on a monthly basis, in conjunction with the financial analyst
  • The candidates should be able to perform duties under the general supervision of the financial analyst and the manager of the Compensation for Victims of Crime Program
