Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as High School Diploma, including University entrance mathematics
Experience: Candidates should have relevant experience in a professional office environment such as pension administration or a similar technical, and financial field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess post-secondary education (diploma or certificate) in business administration and should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills
  • The candidates should have a strong mathematical aptitude and must successfully complete the WCEBP mathematics test
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure with high volumes, plan, set priorities, and meet competing deadlines
  • The candidates should have knowledge and experience with general office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • The candidates should possess the ability to communicate effectively and courteously in a variety of formats (e-mail, telephone, letter, and in person) and the ability to compose professional business letters
  • The candidates should be able to work independently, follow instructions, and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and to deal effectively and courteously with plan members
  • The candidates should be willing and able to attain a working knowledge of the associated Pension Plans, Life Insurance Plan, and how to apply The Pension Benefits Act (Manitoba) through on-the-job training. They should also be willing and able to successfully complete additional training and/or certificates relevant to this position’s duties within specified timeframes, if requested by WCEBP management

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide clerical and basic calculation support to Member Services by gathering and analyzing data, processing incoming forms and documents, performing basic pension and group life insurance calculations, and preparing member communications
  • The candidates should be able to interact with Members and beneficiaries to provide them with prepared information and materials
  • The candidates should be able to provide reception coverage and perform other duties appropriate to the position classification, as assigned, to assist in the efficient operation of Member Services and the WCEBP
  • The candidates should be able to provide clerical and basic calculation support related to retirement, relationship breakdowns, changes to employment status, and deaths, analyzing the circumstances of each transaction and determining appropriate information to use and processing procedures to follow, in accordance with Plan Texts, Manitoba’s Pension Benefits Act, and the Income Tax Act, as applicable
  • The candidates should be able to research, analyze, verify, and project Members’ service and earnings for use in the calculation of pension and benefits
  • The candidates should be able to perform basic calculations using provided systems, tools, and procedures, analyzing calculation results for reasonableness and accuracy
  • The candidates should be able to prepare basic coding instructions and vouchers required to process payments and prepare letters and statements using supplied templates
  • The candidates should be able to deal with basic pension and benefits inquiries in person, over the phone, via email, and in writing, review incoming correspondence, and determine if action is required and by whom
  • The candidates should be able to provide administrative support to Member Services and provide reception coverage as required, ensuring data integrity and privacy of Member records
  • The candidates should be able to participate in professional development training as required by WCEBP and perform other related duties compatible with the classification
