Work setting: Construction company, Landscape contractor, Various locations
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years’
Landscaping experience: Commercial and/or industrial construction, Residential projects
Construction specialization: Fieldstone paths, Interlocking brick, Poured concrete, Retaining walls
Area of specialization: Plant knowledge and identification, Landscape construction
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be physically demanding, and a repetitive tasker
- The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
- The candidates should be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods
- The candidates should be able to handle heavy loads
- The candidates should be able to do manual dexterity
- The candidates should be able to work in noisy area, odours, and outdoors
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be organized, initiative, flexible, and reliable
- The candidates should have excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, and be able to work as a team player
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorized (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to estimate costs, read and interpret blueprints, water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
- The candidates should be able to apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides and other lawn care products, assess the health of lawns
- The candidates should be able to apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions
- The candidates should be able to direct crews who maintain the health and appearance of golf courses and their surrounding landscapes
- The candidates should be able to examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease, plant and move trees, plant and maintain private and public lawns and gardens
- The candidates should be able to plan and co-ordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental uses and other purposes
- The candidates should be able to plan and construct landscaped environments which may include trees, shrubberies, lawns, fences, decks, patios and other landscape structures
