Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have University undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Planning (4 years)
Experience: Candidates should have 4 years of experience in project work

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to handle short periods of intense concentration while preparing reports
  • The candidates should meet multiple deadlines effectively
  • The candidates should be able to focus on a variety of source data and computer tasks for short periods
  • The candidates should be comfortable working in both office environments and conducting construction site visits

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in project management, transportation planning, environmental assessment, engineering design and construction, and public engagement
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
  • The candidates should understand and apply the principles and methods of project and budget management
  • The candidates should have a working level operation of current City word processing, spreadsheet, and related specialty software
  • The candidates should be capable of composing and presenting proposals and policies
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate public consultation meetings and workshops
  • The candidates should establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • The candidates should be able to represent the City and deal effectively with the public and outside agencies

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform functions related to the project management of active transportation projects (pedestrian) in support of the City’s strategic plan to improve the quality of life, public safety, and pedestrian experience in urban mobility projects
  • The candidates should be able to assist the Manager, Sustainable Transportation Planning and Development in the development, implementation, and management of the City’s Active Transportation program
  • The candidates should be able to administer and coordinate projects and programs with all layers of government and community partners through communication, planning, design, and construction phases; prepare reports and present recommendations to Council, and take inputs from advisory committees and staff to implement action plans; prepare funding and budget proposals; oversee consultant selection processes and guide project contractors
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate engagement, collaboration, and cooperation between internal and external teams and stakeholders in project planning, design, and construction; to maintain project scope, cost, and quality, and report regularly on project status, risks, and mitigation options
  • The candidates should be able to work with volunteers, community members, user groups, community-based project committees; respond to inquiries from the public and City staff. Prepare, coordinate, and attend City-hosted and citizen-led public events. Maintain regular liaison with contractors, suppliers, and government agencies
  • The candidates should be able to represent the City of Victoria at community and advisory committee meetings; provide advice and recommendations on policies/initiatives/programs to meet City objectives and policies
