Gibson Energy is a well-known Canadian-based liquids infrastructure company. Working for years, our company has nearly 14 million barrels of storage, and over 500 km of crude pipelines. We touch 1 in every 4 barrels produced in Western Canada. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible. This job is subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as outlined in Gibson Energy’s Drug and Alcohol policy.

Employment Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term for approximately 2 months (July – August)

Department: Facility Operations – Hardisty

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as high school, bachelor’s degree, a certificate or a diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should have the ability to lift, carry and pull up to 50 lbs, effectively work at heights, climb stairs and ladders frequently and walk for 50-60% of the shift which may include walking on uneven surfaces.

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate who has High School Diploma from a school included in the Gibson in the Classroom initiative will be preferred
  • The candidate should have a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License required (a GDL is acceptable) and have the ability to complete safety training courses including H2S Alive and basic First Aid (training provided and financially supported by Gibson Energy).
  • The candidate should have a good mechanical aptitude and also be a motivated team player, capable of managing several concurrent and varied projects.
  • The candidate should be a quick learner who approaches all work in a safe manner at all times and has strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • The candidate should be able to work well independently and with minimal supervision
  • The candidate should be able to grow their professional network, give back to the community, and gain real world skills that will enhance their knowledge which may be applicable to their future studies
  • The candidate should be able to work at the Hardisty terminal / facility completing the equipment checks and terminal maintenance while working in a safe manner at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to develop the leaders of tomorrow by providing meaningful work experiences that allow students to gain valuable industry knowledge from all levels of the organization
  • The candidate should be able to ensure personal safety and follow site specific operating procedures (SSOPs) for the facility and also maintain current safety training and certification (provided by Gibson Energy)
  • The candidate should be able to learn and become familiar with and follow all of Gibson’s Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) manuals and policies and also ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate competency and follow maintenance procedures and also complete general upkeep and regularly scheduled / routine maintenance of facilities including, cleaning, lawn and weed control, painting, etc
  • The candidate should be able to report problems to the Supervisor. After completion of required on-the-job training, work will be completed across three (3) company facilities including: the Gibson Hardisty Terminal (GHT), Primary Control Centre (PCC), and Diluent Recovery Unit (DRU).
  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensure safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures and also perform other duties as assigned
