Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Honours undergraduate degree
Experience: Candidates should have six years of relevant administrative work, preferably in an academic setting

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to multi-task, coordinate, and execute projects or activities efficiently and effectively
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, exercising sound judgment and resourceful with the ability to take initiative
  • The candidates should have a demonstrated ability to handle projects with short deadlines that require precise calculations and analysis

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate a demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups in a cross-cultural environment
  • The candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of national and international education systems
  • The candidates should have broad knowledge of University academic programs, structure, and admissions
  • The candidates should possess exceptional interpersonal communication and public relations skills and demonstrate excellent organizational skills
  • The candidates should have experience providing advising to students or clients with tact and diplomacy
  • The candidates should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpretive skills and write clear, concise text
  • The candidates should have strong computer skills, including specific experience with common software packages or applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, listservs, Access, PowerPoint, and the ability to keep up with and adapt to changing technology
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Banner software program or other student information systems

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to report to the Assistant Director, Admission Services, and the Senior Admissions Officer
  • The candidates should be able to make decisions regarding the admissibility of undergraduate applicants and assess their eligibility for transfer credits
  • The candidates should be able to represent the Office of Admissions at various Faculty Committee meetings and maintain knowledge of university policies
  • The candidates should be able to provide admissions advice to students, educators, counselors, faculty, and external organizations
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the development of admissions policies and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to research admission requirements for senior high school and post-secondary courses in Canada and international education systems
  • The candidates should be able to determine necessary courses, diplomas, and degrees for specific degree programs and create related worksheets and charts
  • The candidates should be able to respond to individual inquiries regarding admissions information
  • The candidates should be able to participate in on-campus liaison programs for prospective students
  • The candidates should be able to perform other duties related to admissions
