Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed high school and possess a certificate in Adult Education
Experience: Candidates should have full academic year of teaching experience as an adult educator in a post-secondary setting

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be capable of teaching adults in various subjects
  • The candidates should prepare teaching materials, including arranging desks, setting up audio-visual equipment, and distributing handouts. This involves some physical activity to organize the learning environment
  • The candidates should stand and move around the classroom to engage with students, facilitate discussions, and provide instruction. This involves physical mobility and the ability to maintain a dynamic teaching environments

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should provide personal, career, and educational counseling, demonstrating cultural sensitivity
  • The candidates should have proficiency in Math, English, and/or Science, Social Studies, and computer software applications is mandatory and proficiencies in these subjects can be acquired through the high school system
  • The candidates should have computer software application knowledge and must include proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets
  • The candidates should have strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • The candidates should have verbal and written communication skills in Inuktitut would

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate educational programming for adult students in the community
  • The candidates should be able to report to the Coordinator Community Programs, Kivalliq region, and identify and document education needs
  • The candidates should be able to provide instruction to students, support instructional staff, and offer academic and career development counseling to students
  • The candidates should be able to assist with managing the staff and the administrative functions of the Community Learning Centre
  • The candidates should be able to work with various individuals, organizations, companies, and government departments in the community to determine and provide adult education and training needs

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Northern Allowance $21,564 per year
