Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Post Secondary Diploma in a related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have five (5) years relevant experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a degree in a related discipline and four (4) years of relevant experience, one (1) year related certificate and seven (7) years of relevant experience, with relevant computer certificate programs generally having a minimum of 700+ hours, including coursework pertinent to the position
  • The candidates should have four (4) years of work experience using PowerBI, focusing on designing data models and report development using Power Query, M-Query, DAX, administration of the PowerBI Service and completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade or GED
  • The candidates should also have four (4) years of work experience using Microsoft SQL Server, writing complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformations, and analysis, with a focus on query optimization and performance tuning
  • The candidates should have experience in developing and implementing data integration standards and best practices and experience with the following solutions would be an asset: IBM Cognos, IBM Cognos Framework and Transformer, Power Automate, Snowflake, R, and Python
  • The candidates should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills with a strong focus on customer service and strong problem-solving and metadata skills
  • The candidates should have experience in process automation, task scheduling, batch scripting, and the use of PowerShell and Data warehouse experience
  • The candidates should have experience and knowledge of geographical information systems (GIS) and experience or working knowledge of current public safety solutions
  • The candidates should have the ability to excel in a dynamic work and team environment
  • The candidates should undergo a knowledge or skills assessment test and complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should they accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service, they acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain robust PowerBI data models and reports while ensuring alignment with business requirements
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into effective PowerBI solutions
  • The candidates should be able to design and implement data integration processes, ensuring seamless connectivity between various data sources
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate closely with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and understand reporting requirements
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement data models that align with business requirements and ensure a clear representation of the underlying data structures
  • The candidates should be able to integrate data from diverse sources into the semantic layer, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to business rules
  • The candidates should be able to optimize query performance within the semantic layer to ensure efficient and fast data retrieval
  • The candidates should be able to provide consultation and development support for testing data integration processes
  • The candidates should be able to adapt data integration processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to a cross-functional team recognized for leadership in analytics, data integration processes, programming languages, and data management
  • The candidates should be able to maintain comprehensive documentation for the semantic layer, including data models, entity-relationship diagrams, and data dictionaries
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with stakeholders to promptly identify and address data and analytical issues, ensuring coordinated efforts to minimize disruptions in analytics services
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate progressive experience designing and maintaining Data Mart/Star Schema (aka InfoMart)
  • The candidates should be able to perform related duties
