Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of previous supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions
- The candidates should demonstrate leadership presence with the drive and commitment to career advancement
- The candidates should possess strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to drill down to understand root causes and resolve complex issues
- The candidates should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have previous railway experience as a conductor, and Locomotive Engineer qualification
- The candidates should have excellent communication skills and be able to provide clear and concise instructions or directions, including over the radio
- The candidates should be able to read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, regulations, and other written or printed materials in English
- The candidates should possess general equivalency diploma, hold a valid driver’s license. and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to coordinate all train movements within the yard and on the mainline by supervising personnel and maintaining communication across departments to ensure compliance with the Local Service Operating Plan and Operating Plan
- The candidates should be able to coordinate and standardize processes related to the operating plan, including arrival, classification, building, inspecting, and dispatching of trains
- The candidates should be able to provide leadership and be accountable for safety, service, productivity, and financial performance metrics
- The candidates should be able to lead Trains and Engines operating employees by acting as a safety leader through active observation, rule compliance discussions, and preventative staff engagement
- The candidates should be able to occasionally operate trains and maintain certifications and licenses (such as Canadian Rail Operating Rules, Engineer) as required by industry regulations, assist in the transportation of crews to and from trains
